The passing of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2016 marked a significant change to European data protection laws. It is the most substantial legislative development since the introduction of the EU Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC) in 1995. The GDPR seeks to enhance the protection and security of personal data within the EU, and establish a unified legislative framework across all EU member states, replacing the previous EU Data Protection Directive and local laws related to it.

At Smart2host, we wholeheartedly support the GDPR and will ensure that all of our services comply with its provisions by May 25, 2018. The GDPR represents an important step in safeguarding the fundamental right to privacy for European citizens, as well as raising the bar for data protection, security, and compliance standards within the industry.
